Sorrento

“Torna a Surriento” (“Come back to Sorrento”) says a famous song that is one of the most famous in the world, and with it, the fame of this splendid place. The ideal place for a holiday thanks to its marvellous climate, its beautiful coast and its incomparable scenery, has spread throughout the world. Sorrento is magnificently situated on top of a tufa rock plateau which drops sheer to the sea below. The town itself is the most popular in the peninsula named after it. Sorrento boasts of ancient origin, it was a Greek colony; according to the legend, it was inhabited by those mythical sirens which with their sweet singing bewitched passing sailors, including Ulysses himself. Do not miss to visit the main square Piazza Tasso, Corso Italia, Historical Centre, Cloister of San Francesco, Correale Museum and the Inlaid Wood Works (Tarsia) Museum.
